We are not sure how long the Petersen family lived in this house. However, this photo was taken in 1893 and Otto Petersen was born here in 1861, his parents living there at the time. Picture shows Otto Petersen and his wife Ane Marie Christiansen standing at the back with his grandmother sitting in the foreground to the left, Viggo leaning on her and it's Otto's mother, Christiane Pedersdatter to the right with Valdemar standing next to her on the far right. Niels Peter on the rocking horse to the far left. |

The Petersen house in Roholte viewed from the Church Yard. |
The same house in 1999. It's Erwin, my former husband, leaning up against the signpost with the church yard wall behind him. |

Roholte Church as seen from the house |
The Latin inscription painted on the tower-arch tells that the church was built by the King, Kristoffer of Bayern, and was finished in 1441. The Sacristy and tower date back to about 1500. Roholte Church is where the family has been christened, confirmed, married and buried since 1716, maybe even earlier. Unfortunately, there are no family gravestones. The old gravestones were not kept for prosperity and all you can see today is stones that has been set within the last fifty years or so. |
