| Waldemar (Walter) V. Petersen , 78, of New Hartford
passed away Tuesday morining, April 16, at his home of an apparent heart attack. Mr.Petersen was born on September 15, 1889 in Roholte-Roholte Sogn, Denmark, the son of Otto and Anna Roholdt Petersen. In 1908 at the age of nineteen he came to the United States where he lived in Wisconsin for a short time before moving to North Dakota. On September 6, 1916 he was married to Oline Bungum at Moorehead, Minnesota, and the couple made their home in North Dakota until 1921 when they took a trip to Denmark. Upon their return in1922 they moved to Iowa and in 1924, they moved to New Hartford where Mr. Petersen was employed by the Illinois Central Rail Road until his retirement in 1958. Waldemar Petersen was preceeded in death by his parents, four brothers (one in infancy), one sister in infancy and one grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Oline; one son, Otto of Waterloo; four daughters: Mrs. Oscar O. (Anna Marie) Bergstrom of Minneapolis; Mrs Walborg (Oline) Crosby of Costa Mesa, California; Mrs. H. C. (Rosa) Vantiger of Anaheim, California and Mrs. T. C. (Hilda) Slaughter of Minneapolis. Also, by four brothers and a sister still living in Denamrk and by 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday April 19, 1968 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with Rev. A. G. Schardt officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, Iowa. The Kaiser-Corson Capel in New Hartford was in charge of arrangements. End of obituray. |
