Carol Jean Jensen, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend, passed away August 1, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah, after living an inspirational life.
Carol was born May 17, 1938 in Salt Lake City, to L. Marcus and Jean Anderson Jensen. She received her education at William Penn Elementary, Central Jr. High, Olympus High and Mrs. Biehle's Craft School. She was employed for two years at Deseret Industries. Carol fulfilled an LDS Church labor mission with her parents in West Berlin, Germany from 1961-64, where she was dearly loved by the German people because of her willing help at the Lankwitz church building site. While there she completed the requirements for her Golden Gleaner Award and received the pin her grandmother, Sarah Jeremy Anderson, had earned years before. Serving as secretary of the Primary, as a Primary teacher and as a nursery leader were experiences she valued. Carol used her abundant creative ability to knit, embroider, paint with watercolors, read, play the piano, and assemble scrapbooks, as well as an international doll collection. Loving and tender-hearted, especially in her relationships with children, she enjoyed playing games with nieces, nephews and neighborhood children, who delighted in her company.
Her life was a courageous one, filled with determination to overcome its great challenges with patience and sweetness. Visits from faithful and precious relatives and friends were a special source of joy to her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially her dear mother, Jean, who cared for her with boundless love for 58 years.
The family would like to express appreciation to Shirley Morrill, who assisted Jean in giving special loving care to Carol for the past three years; as well as to Bonneville Home Health nurses and nurses' aides; to the faithful neighbors and members of the Valley View 6th Ward who cared for Carol as if she were a member of their own families; to Nancy Collier of New Outlook Assoc. for helping Carol to realize success in watercolor; to the nurses at Wasatch Valley Rehabilitation; to relatives and to all who brightened her life with their visits, caring and love.
Carol was preceded in death by her father, Marc and her treasured niece, Melinda Morris. She is survived by mother; sisters and brothers, Lynne Jensen, Salt Lake; Mary Anne Sheffield (Paul W.), Salt Lake; Jay M. Jensen (Julie S.), Bountiful; Lawrence J. Jensen (Terri F.), Salt Lake; four nephews, eight nieces, one grandniece.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, August 5, 1996 at the Valley View Stake Center, 2245 East 3900 South, Salt Lake. Friends may call at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive on Sunday, August 4, 1996 from 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
