Obituary 2. Feb. 2001, GRACE



Ellis Nels Smith, 61, of Grace, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2001, at his home. He was born April 1, 1939, at Jerome, Idaho, the son of William Russell and Anna Elizabeth Roholt Smith. He married Terri J. Seely March 31, 1967, at Castledale, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple June 1, 1975. He moved to Grace with his family as a child, where he had since resided. He attended Ricks College for two years, and Utah State University. Ellis was a high priest in the Grace LDS Second Ward. He served in many callings including ward clerk, and working with the Young Men.

He worked for Utah Power and Light for 34 years, retiring in 1998.

His hobbies included baseball and coaching Little League, genealogy and spending time with his family. He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Terri, of Grace; two sons and one daughter and their spouses, Todd and Carrie Smith, Pocatello, Tyson and Kris Smith, Nampa, Idaho, and Tiffanni and Darin Spencer, Grace, Idaho. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, David and Vania Smith, Randy and Debbie Smith, all of Grace, Idaho, Lorene and Joe Warbel, Mariposa, Calif., and Darlene and Gary Peterson, Soda Springs, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Llewelyn and Morly.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 22, 2001, at noon at the Grace LDS Stake Center. Friends may call Wednesday evening, Feb. 21, at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Thursday at the Grace Stake Center from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
